Penetrant Testing (PT) – Level 2

Goals

At the end of this training, participants will be able to perform in accordance with applicable inspection standards, procedures, verifications, reports, evaluation of
equipments (7 in penetrant testing) and parts inspection.

Further more, the training course has following specific objectives :

  • Meet training requirements of the Canadian Standards Board (CGSB);
  • Prepare candidates for level 2 theoritical and practical exams of the National Certification Agency.
Content
  • Basic notions of inspection.
  • Principles and steps.
  • Penetrants, developers and emulsifiers choice.
  • Methods advantages and disadvantages.
  • Inspection methods and specifications.
  • Practical laboratories, such as:
    – perform verification of equipments and penetrants;
    – write instructions for fluorescent inpection of a piece;
    – inspect welded, casted and forged pieces;
    – interpret and evaluate dicontinuities;
    – complete an inspection report.
  • Exams.
Public cible
Nondestructive testing personnel aiming to obtain a certification from the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) and Quality Control personnel whishing to get aquainted with this testing method.
Préalable à la formation
  • It is recommended to have a secondary school graduation diploma.
